Accessibilty

Kunstsilo is for everyone, and the building is universally designed. We are also continuously working to develop offerings for all groups with special needs.

Mobility-impaired visitors

When you arrive at Kunstsilo in a wheelchair, we recommend using the main entrance, which is located on the quayside.

Kunstsilo has been constructed in accordance with the latest standards for universal design. This means that individuals with limited mobility can access the museum just like anyone else, and that Guest Services, restrooms, and the cloakroom are accessible. The building is equipped with an elevator and step-free access to all public areas.

Accessible toilets are available on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 9th floor.

Our wheelchair-accessible ticket gate is 150 cm wide.

Our elevator is 125 cm wide and 268 cm deep.

You may use your own wheelchair within the museum. We also have wheelchairs available for loan. Contact Guest Services or a host to borrow one.

There are seating options in the exhibitions, as well as designated rest and break areas.

The nearest accessible parking is in the Kilden Parking Garage.

Visually impaired or blind

For visually impaired guests, we recommend using the South entrance from Kanalbyen, which provides the shortest access to the cloakrooms and restrooms.

The building has tactile guidance lines on all floors.

Guide dogs and service dogs are permitted in Kunstsilo.

For guests with visual impairments, it is possible to borrow magnifying glasses and flashlights at Guest Services.

Hearing impaired and deaf

We currently have telecoils installed in the Silo Hall and Sjølyst Hall.

We are also continuously working to develop services for the hearing impaired with tailored tours.

Please feel free to contact us via [email protected] for more information about our tour offerings for the hearing impaired.

Companions/attendants

We offer free admission on entrance tickets and events for attendants/companions (with a companion certificate). Companion tickets are available both online and at Guest Services.

Baby stroller in Kunstsilo

You can bring a stroller into the exhibitions, but the maximum width is 100 cm. If it is wider than that, we ask you to park it at the stroller parking area on the 1st floor behind the lockers. In some cases, you may be asked to switch to a loaner stroller or baby carrier. Our hosts will assist you with this if needed.
