Over Seas is a collaborative project between artist Elina Brotherus and conductor Eivind Aadland, staged by Kilden and Kunstsilo. Aadland, an avid art collector, and Brotherus, with her deep interest in classical music, have together developed Over Seas, a project where their artistic expressions meet. The first part of the project was performed in the concert hall at Kilden in 2023, where Brotherus’ video works were presented together with the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Eivind Aadland.
Over Seas is the first co-production between Kilden and Kunstsilo. The collaboration is named the Nordic Art Symphony Project because it connects visual art with symphonic music. Kilden and Kunstsilo unite their resources and technological expertise to create new groundbreaking productions. With art from the Tangen Collection as a significant source of inspiration and with support from Cultiva and the AKO Foundation, Over Seas represents the first milestone in the development of new interdisciplinary formats.
The first part was conducted at Kilden in 2023. Now, the concept continues at Kunstsilo and is presented in a further developed format for the exhibition space. The symphony orchestra is staged in the form of a multi-channel sound landscape. Speakers represent the different instrument groups in the orchestra, and the audience has the opportunity to wander through the soundscape and explore sound and image in a new way as a holistic installation.
